Using the Nest Thermostat
- Turn left (counter-clockwise) to lower the temperature.
- Turn right (clockwise) to raise the temperature.
- The display updates instantly to show your set temperature.
The thermostat follows a basic daily schedule to help manage energy costs. You can adjust at any time, but it may return to a scheduled set point later.
Please don’t change long-term schedules or system settings in the Nest menu.
Staying Cool in Summer
July and August are typically the warmest months here. Lake-effect winds can still drop temps into the 60s, even in midsummer, and most homes do not have A/C.
Cooling Tips
- Evenings/overnight: open windows and blinds to bring in cool air.
- Morning: close windows and blinds to trap the cool air before the day warms up.
- Run ceiling fans during warm periods to keep air circulating.
- These steps usually keep the home comfortable, even on hotter days.
